Ron Mastrogiovanni, President and Chief Executive Officer.
Mr. Mastrogiovanni brings more than 25 years of experience in the management consulting, financial services, and computer technology industries. Most recently, he co-founded FundQuest, a provider of wealth management solutions for financial institutions, including banks, insurance companies and investment product firms. Mr. Mastrogiovanni’s expertise, strategic planning, and aggressive product management led FundQuest to become one of the most comprehensive fee-based money management solutions in the industry. Under Mr. Mastrogiovanni’s management, the company accumulated over $12 billion in assets and 80 institutional clients. The company was recently sold to BNP Paribas, a global leader in banking and financial services, for more than $100 million. Previous to co-founding FundQuest, Mr. Mastrogiovanni was President of The Parker Company, a management consulting firm specializing in technology startups. Prior to The Parker Company, he held management, senior sales and marketing positions in the technology industry. Mr. Mastrogiovanni is a graduate of Boston State College. He earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Babson College.
Charlie Baker, Member of the Board
Mr. Baker brings to HealthView over 25 years of management experience in the health care, public policy and the health insurance industry. Most recently, he sought and secured the Republican nomination for Governor in Massachusetts, losing in a four way general election to incumbent Democrat Deval Patrick. Before that, he spent ten years as CEO of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, a $2 billion, 1 million member health benefits plan serving individuals and employers in MA, NH and ME. Under his leadership, HPHC went from state receivership to #1 in the country for six years in a row for member satisfaction and clinical effectiveness.
Prior to that, Charlie served as CEO of Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, the largest independent multi-specialty physician practice in Eastern Massachusetts. In the 1990s, he served as Secretary of Health and Human Services and Secretary of Administration and Finance under Massachusetts Governors Bill Weld and Paul Cellucci, where he earned the Distinguished Service Award from the National Governor’s Association.
He is currently serving as an Executive in Residence with General Catalyst, a venture capital firm based in Cambridge, MA. He is also an Independent Trustee of the Natixis family of mutual funds, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Tremont Credit Union.
Thomas C. McKenna, Vice President of Business Development
Mr. McKenna has been in financial services for over 15 years and has experience in both retail and institutional sales. Most recently he was Vice President of Senior Institutional Sales at Bank of America, working primarily with the defined benefit and defined contribution marketplace. Previously, Mr. McKenna gained extensive experience in the retirement income market as the first Income Specialist at New York Life. While in their retirement income products division, he focused his efforts on developing the training program for bank broker-dealers on the East Cast. Mr. McKenna has also held several positions in the asset management side of the financial services sector. At State Street Research, he was the Regional Vice President of the Midwest region and wholesaled that company’s investment products in all channels of distribution, including insurance, independents, banks, and wirehouse broker-dealers. Mr. McKenna also held a Regional Vice President position at FundQuest Asset Management and worked with over 50 different broker dealers to train their financial advisors in the fee-based managed-money arena During this time, the firm earned more than a billion dollars in sales in less than 3 years.
Mr. McKenna studied Business Administration at Suffolk University and is the recipient of numerous industry awards.
Jeffrey K. Cohen, M.D., Chairman of HVS Medical Advisory Board
Dr. Cohen, in addition to being the Chairman of the HVS Medical Advisory Board, is President of the Triangle Urological Group and serves as Director of the Division of Urology at Allegheny General Hospital. He is an associate professor of surgery at Drexel University. Dr. Cohen received his medical degree from the State University of New York – Syracuse Upstate Medical Center in 1979 and received his certification from the American Board of Urology. Dr. Cohen completed his internship and residency training in surgery and urology at the Case Western Reserve – University Hospital of Cleveland followed by a fellowship in urological oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Institute in Houston, TX.
Dr. Cohen is currently researching new technologies for urological disorders and has been instrumental in pioneering cryosurgery for the treatment of prostate and renal disorders. Dr. Cohen is a member of the American Urological Association (AUA) and has served on the AUA New Technology and Treatment Advisory Committees. Dr. Cohen is the recipient of many awards, including being included in The Best Doctors in Pittsburgh list in Pittsburgh Magazine and the 1996-1997 editions of Best Doctors in America. Dr. Cohen has authored numerous articles and lectures and serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Urology and Urology.
George Bernard, Jr., Director and Business Advisor
Mr. Bernard has over 30 years experience in the financial services industry. Currently, he is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Bennington Asset Management, Inc., a Registered Investment Advisor. Previously, Mr. Bernard was Executive Vice President & Director of Eastern Point Advisors where he oversaw the firms’ development strategy and business operations, including investment management and marketing. Prior to this, Mr. Bernard was Vice President and National Institutional Sales Manager for fee-based advisory services at Allmerica Financial, a Fortune 500 diversified group of insurance and financial services companies.
Mr. Bernard has held several other senior level positions at PNC Bank Corp, Moors & Cabot, Inc, Gruntal & Co, Inc., Tucker Anthony & R.L. Day, Inc., and Moseley, Hallgarten, Eastbrook & Weeden. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Georgetown University.
Donald P. Hearn, Director
Mr. Hearn brings extensive institutional marketing and business development experience in the financial services to HealthView Services. Most recently Mr. Hearn was the Senior Managing Director for New Business Development for FundQuest providing fee-based programs for financial institutions. During this time, Mr. Hearn personally negotiated multimillion-dollar relationships with major institutions such as JPMorgan Chase, HSBC and USAA.
Prior to this, Mr. Hearn served as President of Digital Lighthouse’s Financial Services Division and as Executive Vice President and Operating Committee Member at U.S. Trust Company in New York. During his five years at U.S. Trust he led the firm’s mutual fund asset management and services businesses through a period of rapid growth. After the division was sold to Chase Manhattan in 1995, Mr. Hearn remained with the unit for four more years as Chairman and CEO. Mr. Hearn has also held senior sales, marketing and strategic planning positions at The Boston Company, Dalbar and the Bradford Trust Company.
Mr. Hearn is a graduate of Cornell University and received an MBA with Honors from Boston University in 1974.
Peter Wieselquist, Chief Technology Officer
HealthView welcomes Peter Wieselquist as a key decision-maker on the technology direction of the company and its products. As a seasoned senior-level technologist, Peter’s unique blend of entrepreneurial, business, technical, and marketing knowledge is a key driver to formulating long-term visions and strategies for HealthView.
Having run a successful consulting and web hosting services company, Mr. Wieselquist brings a wealth of business and system architecture background to run HealthView’s product engineering and IT departments. In addition to overseeing HealthView’s technology strategy, Peter is responsible for IT infrastructure, SAAS & portal platforms, and dedicated client systems.
Since joining HealthView in December 2010, Peter has successfully overseen projects such as rebuilding/rebranding HealthView’s corporate website & blogs, implementing mobile collaboration tools, and rolling out new products. Previously president and founder of Systems Insight, Mr. Wieselquist has run high-visibility consultancy projects for large enterprise clients such as Progress Software, Mercer, and Sophos USA/GmbH. Peter brings over 20 years of technical and business background to HealthView. He has played key senior roles for insurance, financial services, and healthcare companies such as NaviNet, DST Systems, Applied Insurance Research, and Amica.
Peter has earned a bachelor of arts degree in Mathematics from Providence College.
Robert Powell, Advisor
Robert Powell is president of Unison, LLC, a Salem, Mass.-based communications and consulting firm. He is also the Executive Producer of PBS’ More Than Money, a new personal finance television series. Mr. Powell has more than 20 years of financial services industry and media experience in Internet, broadcast, print, and radio. His work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, MarketWatch, and Your Money. He has also served as host or co-host of several television, radio and Internet chat programs. He was formerly managing director of Acadient, Inc. of Boston, where he managed programs for personal finance educational institutions. He has also served as managing director and editor-in-chief of Boston-based DALBAR, Inc., where he headed the firm’s multi-million dollar publishing company. He has been The Boston Herald’s personal finance and mutual funds columnist as well as a business reporter for the Berkshire Eagle and Boston Business Journal. He has a bachelor’s degree from Marquette University and a master’s degree in journalism from Boston University College of Communication.
